Beneath the truth

Beneath the truth

Rejective to the truths she tried to tell him

Mind absent?

Or defensive out on a limb

.

.

Please listen

You must play attention

No more pretension, allow convention

.

.

You sit and stare through vacant eyes

Life on hold, I await your replies

Do you understand what we are losing

Responding, why are you refusing

.

.

Your mind wandering like a nomad

Can you focus on what we once had

Why are you scared to open your heart

When we are close, I see your lips naturally part

Your words say I miss you so much

Your hands reaching for mine, a brief touch

.

.

Is this a blemish, a blot that can be mended

Unbelievingly that this is our life intended

I love you, your words do say

Can we rebuild, be us, not they (were)

Consent step forward and then deny

Concede, permit, it is ok to again, try

.

.

Some people wear their heart on their sleeve

Others keep it closed, opting to leave

Do you keep it hidden to avoid humiliation and rejection?

Please do not besmirch our lives affection

.

.

Show your beautiful and vulnerable heart.

I would have accepted it with a tender open heart.

.

.

I have combined a number of challenges. Enjoy the collaboration ❤️

The Magician

/#writephoto – Sue Vincent

Startled she awoke

By the hush of the dark

Her sweet slumber was broke

The moon staining her face

Like a beautiful birth mark

.

.

The silver white moon hung

Like a chandelier radiating light

As if magic had entered

On this inky black night

.

.

This was her fathers sacred space

He came here to find inspiration

Where sky and leafscape interlace

He would sit in Natures creation

.

.

As a child she sat by his side

She stared into his gentle face

Her heart would swell with pride

And overwhelming love

.

.

She went to his favourite spot

To connect with him

Hold on, her sorrow forgot

Shine on me father, in my heart you shall never grow dim

.

.

She lay down below the moon so divine

The wind so gentle, singing to her

Oh daughter of mine

In her slumber her soul hears the silence stir

.

.

Her sad eyes slowly open

She sees his sign

A dream filled sleep joyfully broken

At this moment our two worlds align

.

.

Dad is that you

.

.

She stares lovingly at wizards hat

Her father the magician showing her that his magic still exists in our world

Again she hears the song

Daughter of mine that he sang for her on her wedding day

.

.

I love you dad ❤️

Here is the song he sang to his daughter

Retractable Dog Leashes – know the risks

Warning graphic photos

This was very well written so I wanted to share. Warning, some graphic photos. All the injuries below were caused by retractable leashes.

Retractable Dog Leashes: Know the Risks

Retractable dog leashes are a popular tool among dog-owners. These leashes are thin cords that extend from and retract into a plastic handle. They may seem like a great idea because you can give your dog some leeway or reign her back in depending on the situation. The truth is that using retractable leashes for your dog is not a good idea. The dangers of these devices are caused by three of their main characteristics:

-The leash is a thin cord.

-The cord is attached to a spring-loaded mechanism in the handle.

-The leash extends up to thirty feet.

The possible negative circumstances that can occur as a result of these three retractable leash characteristics are:

Retractable leashes extend too far. Some of them can reach up to 30 feet in length. Because the leash is so long, your dog will have an option to run into situations or places that can result in serious injury or death for her or other dogs and people. These include:

-Running into a street.

-Charging up to people or other dogs uninvited.

-Darting in front of bicyclists or roller-bladers.

Getting tangled up in a long retractable leash is a real danger for dogs and people alike. Dogs can easily run around obstacles, getting the leash tangled, and you and dog can both become caught up in it. This creates a danger of falling or being injured by the leash itself, which is a thin cord and can cause damage to legs, hands, and other body parts that become wrapped up in it.

If you are walking your dog in a populated area on an extended retractable leash, the cord could easily entangle or trip other passers-by.

Retractable leashes have handles that are large and unwieldy. They are hard to handle and easy to drop. A dropped leash handle can result in a loose dog or more entanglement dangers.

Dogs that are timid are usually quite startled when a retractable leash handle is dropped, as it is quite loud. If this happens and the dog jumps or runs, the handle follows along, scraping, bumping, and making more noises. The poor, timid dog may be so traumatized by this that she becomes afraid of going for walks.

If you are walking your dog on a hard surface and accidentally drop the handle, the noise and sudden retraction may scare even a non-timid dog, causing her to run away from you.

Because retractable leashes are thin cords, if a person grabs the leash itself to try and pull the dog back in, severe injuries can result. These have included cord burns, lacerations, and even finger amputations.

It is much more difficult for a person to control the weight of a dog that is so far in front of them than one that is close. Your dog may reach the end of the leash and keep running full-speed. When a large dog is involved, this can easily result in you being pulled off of your feet and dragged. The injuries resulting from such an incident can include soreness, bruises, scrapes, and broken bones.

Dogs can be injured by retractable leashes, too. When dogs are running and hit the end of the leash, they can be jerked back suddenly. This can result in severe neck, throat, or spine injuries.

Large dogs that run full-speed and hit the end of the leash can sometimes break the thin cord, resulting in escape. You may also be injured by the snapping cord in this scenario.

Because of the tension on a retractable leash from the spring-loaded mechanism inside, if the dog’s collar or the metal clasp breaks when the dog is close to you, you could be seriously injured from the leash flying back into your face.

If you have a very obedient, well-mannered dog, using a retractable leash in a wide-open, uninhabited space so she can have a little room to explore may be safe. However, the majority of the time, retractable leashes are dangerous for dogs, their owners, and nearby pets and people.

Im sure it was just a Dream

Mysterious

The pounding of rain on the windscreen made it difficult to concentrate. Eyes bleary from navigating the road in the the visually poor conditions. The two-hour drive from the airport had turned into 5 1/2 hours. There had been no sign posts or if there had she couldn’t see them. Her ears straining to hear Siri give her directions.

Ella had been invited to her Uncle’s country home in Arcane. He was celebrating his 80th birthday. All the family were coming. Her mind reflecting on conversations with her deceased parents, the only family she heard about, was odd Uncle Slav who lived in Arcane. So odd they never went to visit him.

She dismissed it with the thought that they must be from the other side of the family. Being she was the only one left, no brothers or sisters, her parents were tragically killed in an car accident two years ago, (or so Ella thought), hence she was quite excited about the thought of having some family.

A brief halt from the pelting of the rain, a moment of reprieve, she hears Siri say “you have reached your destination.”. The destination it is on your right. Aha someone up there is looking after me she thought. Ella silently said thank you

She slowed the car to a halt. Squinting as looked out of the rain stained car window, it was dark. She focused on the empty space between her car and the dark house in front of her. She could see flickers of light through the windows. Shadows passed over her eyes. What was that? she thought silently or did she speak it out loud. She open the car door, grabbed her umbrella from the back seat. Did she grab it to shield herself from the rain or as a potential weapon if needed, she looked left and right before stepping out.

Walking the dark path towards the front door, she knocked softly. She could see or hear nothing, just flickering off the light from what appeared to be candles in the windows. She knocked harder. She jumped when she heard

“Who is it?” He spoke in a hoarse whisperer his voice filled with a dark edge.

Chills ran down her spine. Was it a cold or was it fear. She shivered. It is me Uncle Slav, Ella from Seraph.

The door opened. Standing in front of her, A man, he must’ve been six-foot five. Tall with long limbs, so lean, she could barely make out its features, the flicker of light from the candles again helping her showed pale skin, his dark eyes radiating a fierce, uncompromising intelligence. What was behind those mysterious eyes. Again, she shuddered.

Welcome child, welcome to my home. For one brief second I am safe. My home is your home now and with that he swept her into embrace his eyes turning a deep red, long fangs. Thoughts that raced through her mind in that split-second. “Vampires, are they real, I’m going to die, why did I come here, I didn’t say goodbye to my friends, who will look after my dog, a slideshow commenced showing photos of her as a child, growing up, with her mum and dad, all her childhood pets, friends, one after another photos flicked through her mind then, her will asked will see my mum and dad. She felt a sting, his fangs piercing into her neck, the pain is so intense, yet somehow so pleasurable as well. What is happening? what is going on?, she felt herself the limp in his arms, she looked into those red eyes once more, then the sweet voice of mother, oh darling we see you met uncle slav. We are so sorry, we love you and then nothing.

Ella woke the next morning, in her car funnily enough she did not feel the cold, even though there was frost all around her, snow capped mountains in front of her. So close it felt like if she reached out she could touch them. Everything around her seemed brighter, more vibrant, amplified. On her windscreen was the most beautiful butterfly she had ever seen, mesmerised, she got out the car, walked slowly so not scare the butterfly away, she stared at the butterfly. The butterfly seemed to make eye contact. It stared back, as if it knew her, it stared with It’s deep red eyes.

Her slim fingers slowly reaching up to gently touch the right side of her neck, as she lowers her hand, Ella looks at her fingers, drops of blood. She hears a voice deep inside, that horse whisper that was filled with the dark edge“ you are now immortal my dear”

I’m sure it was all a dream

The benefits of pets

People are reluctant to have an animal because of the responsibility that comes with them. Weigh up the benefits over the negatives. They really do bring so much joy into a household.

Please note:

my pet hate…. they DO belong inside. You do not get to enjoy your animal if it is locked outside all day.

ADOPT DONT SHOP There are so many beautiful animals waiting for beautiful homes in shelters & pounds throughout Victoria, Australia, all over the world.

Please read the following article on the benefits of pets on depression. Click on the link. ❤️

The angry man

Unhappy within himself

He had lost his ability to find joyous moments and occasions in his every day, every hour and even moments

Why did he get angry when she eagerly ate the cake he bought her. He watched her eat with such verve that was wonderful to watch, if you were not he!

The cake was oozing it’s generous fillings, they dribbled down her chin. She didn’t care. A crumb sitting happily in the corner of her mouth. A drop perched itself high upon her heavy breast.

So displeased as he watched this horror show, he wanted to yell, for god sake, why are you so clumsy? Clean yourself up!

As she pushed the last mouthful into her mouth, her happy face turned to a sad face as he curtly told her “ wipe your mouth”

Still savouring those last morsels of her delectable cake, she patted around her mouth. Missing the spots with every dab, the angry man became more displeased with every flub.

There he growled pointing to the corner of her mouth. As she missed again he snapped “NO at her, “to the left more”. Rolling his eyes as he snarled NO! again slamming his fist on the table.

Looking down at her empty plate, the joy in her gluttonous experience was made joyless by the way he spoke to her. Why can’t you wipe it off for me? Why do you get so grumpy with me?

He sat and took in her words. He knew he was hard on her. She was right. He asked himself silently, why am I unhappy? Why do I blame her for my unhappiness.

The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off yourself when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making the other feel guilty or bad about something by blaming them, but you won’t succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy

The Unlikely Friendship

Perching himself upon the giant creatures back, his only thought was his hungry tummy.

The giant creature lifted his head slowly and turned to look at what had landed on his wide brown and white girth.

She asked “Why do set down on me little one?” The egret replied “I look for worms and insects to eat”. The giant creature thought and then said ahhh so you eat other living creatures too? I eat only grass. The little bird was confused but curious to hear more.

Staring into this giant creatures face, he noticed she had large beautiful but very sad eyes. Tears were rolling down her face, “why are you crying my giant friend.” the little bird chirped.

The egret had forgotten all about his insects and worms, he wanted to learn what made his new friend so sad.

The giant creature explained “ I am a cow, my life is miserable.

They impregnate me in the most inhumane way. When I have my baby they take it away from me immediately. I hear my baby crying for me and I can’t help it. I fight to get to my baby and they drag it away with disregard for the precious life that it is. They don’t allow me to feed my baby because my milk goes to humans. “Why would a human want to drink a cows milk.”

If my baby is a boy he is taken away to be killed, if my baby is a girl she will live the same life as me.

I am in pain all of my life. When I can no longer provide milk, they will take me to the abbatoir where they will kill me and I will be used for food and other products. It is all about money making. Humans seem to value money over life.

So dear one, that is the life I didn’t ask for.

This made the little egret really sad. He sat quietly for a very long time. When he finally spoke again he said when we meet again in another life, You are going to perch yourself on to my back and I will fly over the rainbow, to a world so beautiful and I am going to give you a life a love, tenderness and kindness.

That my friend is my promise and what you deserve.
